The Iron Rangers Online Community, was created when a dedicated group of players made staying together as a community their first priority. Therefore the highest goal and purpose of Iron Rangers will always be to enjoy playing together, and to seek out mature members who place the same value on community that gave rise to the community in the first place.

Who We Are: We number among our members, gamers who play Battlefield, Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest II, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars and many other games. We admit mature players who enjoy a sense of community. Grief play, harassment or any other form of immature behavior is not acceptable from our membership.

Who We Are Offline: We are a fun loving group of people from all walks of life ranging in age from the mid-teens to 'old enough to get discount movie tickets'. We often play other games together and have built real friendships that extend to our lives offline. The biggest requirement for new members is that you spend time getting to know us and that you fit well in our environment. (We would also hope that you find that we are a good fit for you.)

Our Leadership: We have titled leaders because each game's functionality makes that necessary, however we operate by a mature consensus. Every member past their probation has a voice in any decision they wish to participate in. Our Leadership Council is selected as needed by the members from among themselves, and they are responsible for communication, in game administration and forum moderation. They are facilitators, it is the general membership that are the decision makers.

Communication: We use Ventrilo to facilitate both our in game communication and to better get to know each other as friends. While Ventrilo use is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. Missing out on our Ventrilo chat would be missing the heart of Iron Rangers, and it will make it more difficult for us to get to know you during your probationary membership.

A note on language: Profanity, vulgarity or crude talk are not welcome at any time in guildchat or over our voice chat. We have members who play alongside their children, or have their ventrilo audible in rooms where their families might be listening. We also have those members who simply prefer a more positive atmosphere. While we recognize that profanity can be a part of people's habitual speech, it does take a little extra effort to type that into your chat interface or to push your Ventrilo talk hotkey.

Costs: Running this website, ventrilo and game servers all cost money. As a member of Iron Rangers, there is an expectation that you donate to the maintenance of these valuable tools. No one will be expected to donate more than they can afford.
If your game servers are operated by the game publisher (Sony, Blizzard, Turbine, etc.) and you pay a monthly subscription to them there will be no expectation of you to share in the cost of the =IR= game server unless you use it regularly. You will only be asked to share in the minimal costs of the website and Ventrilo. These costs are reasonable, and the value and enjoyment we derive from these tools far exceeds the price.

Recruitment: If you've made it this far, you were probably looking for this. If we sound like the kind of community you'd like to be a part of, you are encouraged to post a hello in the recruitment forum. If you haven't known any of our members before this, you can best help your own application by spending time in game, talking, hunting, etc, and just getting to know us. The better we know you, the more likely you are to be granted probationary membership.

Probationary Membership: If you become a probationary member, you will be tagged so that you can participate in guildchat, and you will be given the access information for our Ventrilo server. Probationary time is on average two weeks, though this may be extended if necessary (for instance if you've not been able to play actively for a while and we've missed our chance to get to know you). During this time you should join in as many game events as you can, letting us all get to know you while you get to know us. At the end of your probation, the final decision as to your membership will be made by all current members.
If at that time we feel we must deny your application for membership, you are entitled to and will receive an email with a full explanation for the reason we are unable to accept you as a permanent member.
If we feel that you are a good fit, then we will welcome you to full membership at that time and you will have all member rights including a voice in guild decisions and access to the Members Only sections of the forums.
