Battlefield Bad Company 2 launch thoughts

Well.....

I wish that I had not pre-ordered this.

But, since I did, I loaded it up last night since the full version launched this week.

Overall grade: 5/10

The conquest mode plays a TON better than the rush mode that was in the beta. HOWEVER, the maps are horrible.
In BF43, BF2, BF2142, there was at least a flow to the maps. These just seem like a mess.
The game play feels weird.
The graphics are not that great - the "frostbite" engine IMHO is crap.
NO prone ( I mean I cant lay down! sheesh)
Full clips from SAW does not kill, but a few burst of sub-machine gun from 500 yards does
Tanks are worthless- mainly due to the crappy maps.
Looooooooooong load times. Time to pick server, load , and finally in game 5-10 MINUTES and I have a good rig

VERY disappointed that this came from DICE. It was funny - the player chat last night was- this sucks, this map sucks, this game is horrible, etc....

Not recommended at this time- BUT it may get better

I'm loving it on the PS3, much better than the first one. I don't think I could ever go back to PC based games now that I'm used to the console...but I also don't play with a group which I think would be harder to do effectively on the console. Sorry you don't like it Terry...I'm already quickly pwning all those 13 year old noobs :) On a side note, I really like playing BF43 as well...wish they had more maps and wish 1942 had been like this when it first came out...but playing it brings back lot's of fond memories.

Hey Smacky....

Well- maybe it was just me- or the server I was on- dont know.

There were some aspects that were good. but the overall gameplay felt off

I WISH BF43 was out for the PC.......I did hear a rumor that BF43 was going to be coming as an add-on to BF:BC2 - but not confirmed

I will give it a few more days to see if it grows on me.

Any new thoughts Barnes now that you've been playing it longer? It sure gets great reviews, pretty much 9/10 from all the big sites.

Honestly I have not had a chance to play this past week or so. Work kinda crept up on a few things.

Got to play some more this morning.

The Conquest mode IS fun. Especially if you get into a good squad.

The maps are growing on me. I guess it is not knowing the layout.

So far- I would say that it is growing on me. I will re-evaluate after some more games.

Thanks for the update Barnes, please keep us posted. Trying to decide between this or waiting for DFAF to come out this summer.
